Winds of change

It’s been a wile since I’ve written in my journal. I haven’t been having the best of luck the past few weeks. A few days after my birthday, a nasty storm hit the property and every other farm in the county. All my hard work dashed to pieces in a few minuets. All my gardens were devastated, along with a lot of my lovely trees. The fallen trees crushed fences, knocked down power lines and completely covered the 30 yard drive way; the only way in or out. I was at work when it hit and I’m kind of sad I missed it.

I’ve been rather depressed since. A lot of the wildlife, as well as two of my cats, were lost to the storm. I had a huge mess to clean up. Hell, I still do. Thankfully, my brother in law has been helping when he can. Yet, I haven’t been able to do much of anything lately. Being the dumb ass that I am, wile trimming the trees, I managed to get my thumb caught on a falling limb (don’t ask). As a reward, I received five stitches in my hand and I tore up the muscles in my forearm; rendering my left arm useless for a wile. Damn it, I need that arm for stuff :(

Since then, I have been spending most of my time reading and painting miniatures. There is not much else I can do with one arm. I hitched a ride with my friend up to Springs and got a few new anthromorph minis. I picked up a were-bear, a minotaur and a giant boar man with a bad ass sword and eagle wings. All three are rather large compared to your average gaming mini, which makes them a bit easier to paint. I managed to give the minotaur whites, irises and pupils on his eyes. I don’t quite know how I managed to do it on something that small and I don’t think I could manage to do it again if I tried :)

Anyway, shit happens, life goes on, yahda yahda yahda… It’s good to be back.

Glad to have you back. My house is almost finished, and I can imagine how I'd feel if a storm destroyed it the way it sounds like your garden has been - so you have my earnest sympathy. But on the up side - gardens grow. It may take a while, but with effort, I'm sure you'll have it back to it's glory :)

Have fun with the minis :)

Thanks, your words offer comfort. Glad to hear things are coming along with your house. I know in time things will get back to normal. My main concern is the trees. I lost seventeen elms that had been standing there since long before I was even thought of. It’s going to take quite a wile for them to grow back. Oh well, guess I can take comfort in starting a new generation of trees for future generations to enjoy.

That's true - it's one thing to care for the trees someone else planted - it's another to plant trees yourself.

Thank you, wounds heal in time. I’ll be back to my usual mischief in no time.
